5 Key Websites I visit each time I design

Nigeria is a very peculiar country and Nigerian designers are very unique. And I will tell you why.

A typical Nigerian designer has all their tools installed on their laptop but doesn’t have a clue as to how to move beyond the tools. So, you see him struggling with his software. He always almost starts his design from the scratch.

It is difficult when you don’t know your way and you don’t have a guide. Let me be a guide to some of my fellow designers today.

WHERE I GET MY IMAGES

I admit there are several places where you can source for images for your design. Many of my clients have their businesses situated in Nigeria; as such I have to use black people in my designs for them.

So, for human faces, I visit Pexels.com. They are the closest to African, black American pictures as you can get. Other images can be sourced from Unsplash.com and Pixabay.com

WHERE I GET MY ICONS AND BACKGROUNDS

Is Freepik.com strange to you? That’s my rescue point when I need some inspiration in my design. Especially, when it comes to shapes, vectors and high-end illustrations.

WHERE I GET MY FONTS

Yes. Font is huge when it comes to great designs. My choice of font is hugely determined by the nature of design at hand. When I need a special font to accentuate my design, there’s one place I go to: Onlinewebfonts.com

WHERE I GET TRANSPARENT IMAGES

Sometimes you don’t just have the luxury of time to remove background of any image. In such cases, there are different sites I visit to source for ready-made photos with background removed.

One of them is: pngwing.com

WHERE I GET UNUSUAL START FOR MY DESIGNS

You might think this is straight forward but it is not. Google search is my last resort when inspiration for a design fails me. I search to see what others have done in that regard. Google Search can be a major lifesaver most times.

These are just few of the sites I visit when I design. There are other similar sites, including Canva, where inspiration can be gotten.

I hope this helps someone. Thanks
